Peugeot's Vendome Wet Salt Mill features a corrosion resistant, stainless steel grinding mechanism (dry sea salt crystals only; not suitable for wet salt or other spices). An adjustable knob on top enables you to choose your grind from fine to coarse. Comes partially filled with sea salt. The Peugeot family history dates back to a mill in a small village in France around 1793. The first pepper grinder by Peugeot of France was created in 1842. The same mechanism is still in use today, virtually unchanged, often copied but never equal. The mechanism is made of case hardened steel and designed to crack the peppercorns before the actual fine grinding begins. The grooves on a Peugeot mechanism are individually cut into the metal and then case hardened, making them virtually indestructible. The same commitment that goes into every Peugeot pepper mill is evident in the stainless steel salt mills.
